Working with an agent who understood what we wanted and how best to navigate the buying process was invaluable to us.” ~ Chase Lyles

What does providing exceptional customer service really mean? To a Savvy + Co. Real Estate agent it means making the process of buying or selling a home easy, enjoyable and positive. It means providing new homebuyer education courses, working with the most caring and knowledgeable agents in the industry and continuing to go above and beyond for each and every client no matter the market conditions.

It means reconnecting with a trusted friend who knows you, your tastes, and understands the Charlotte housing market!

Chase and Melissa Lyles were ready to trade in their Atlanta condo for a home and a yard in Charlotte. They turned to Savvy + Co. agent, and friend Grant Wilsterman to help them find the perfect home for them and their dog, Yohan. And they found it in the heart of Plaza Midwood.

Time to make a move

Chase and Melissa Lyles owned a condo in Atlanta and were ready to make the transition to a single-family home. It would be new job opportunities that would bring Chase and Melissa to Charlotte, but not before they embarked on a six-month road trip.

Once they were ready to focus on buying a home in Charlotte, they knew they needed someone who was knowledgeable about the Charlotte market.

“With our first home buying experience in Atlanta, we worked with someone we knew and found that it made the process much easier from a communication standpoint. We knew Grant from attending the same university and knew that he was a trustworthy person,” says Chase.

“They didn’t know the neighborhoods and needed my help to find the neighborhood that would best fit their lifestyle and would be the perfect home for them and their dog,” says Grant.

“After further discussions with Grant, he was very knowledgeable of all the up and coming neighborhoods, and was professional in his assessments of the Charlotte real estate market which made us sure that he would be great to work with,” says Chase.

On the hunt

“We were looking for a single-family home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. We needed a fenced in yard or at least a yard that we could fence in ourselves for Yohan. We were open to suggestions on neighborhoods, but we knew that we wanted to be able to walk to bars, coffee shops, breweries, etc.,” says Chase.

With a price range and specific home and location needs in mind, Grant set up searches on MLS for Chase and Melissa to see available options. To be proactive, Chase and Melissa also looked at homes on Zillow and sent homes they liked to Grant to ensure he knew their taste.

“Chase spent time biking through some of the neighborhoods we were considering to get a better feel for whether it was the right place for them to live or not,” says Grant.

An interesting one

After touring homes in the Plaza Midwood area, Chase and Melissa decided that they were willing to increase their budget to get into the neighborhood. They liked that the neighborhood was close enough to the light rail and breweries and that they would be able to bike or walk easily to get to places.

Shortly after they raised their budget, Chase and Melissa toured and fell for a home on Parkwood Avenue. The home was perfect for them… and Yohan! They put an offer on the house, but there was a problem on the seller side.

“The sellers were having contract issues with the home they were in the process of purchasing,” says Grant. “The sellers decided they didn’t want to go under contract with their home until those issues were resolved.”

Luckily the seller’s contract worked out and Chase and Melissa were the first in line to submit their offer! In the matter of a day, Chase, Melissa, and Grant were able to make an offer, negotiate further, and go under contract.

Future endeavors

After working together to find and purchase their Parkwood Avenue home, Chase and Melissa plan to work with Grant again in the next year or two as they plan to purchase another property.

Finding an agent you trust to help guide you through the buying process is crucial when making such a significant investment. Your agent should be a trusted ally, and that is exactly what Grant became for Chase and Melissa.
